Ohiwai Forest Farm is situated in Hikuai, on the Cormandel Peninsular in New Zealand

The 56 Ha (126 Acres) property is formed by a 165m high hill, consisting of cut over and regenerating podocarp forest, a small pine plantation and cleared grazing areas.

The property has been owned by Da Vinci Trust since January 2010 after purchasing it from the neighbouring dairy farm.  The site was used for grazing bulls, raising calves, and hay making up until 2008.

A significant stand of Kauri is atop the hill while numerous large examples of Rata, Tanekaha, Rewarewa, Miro, Kahikatrea and Rimu are scattered across the entire site. Kanuka, Manuka are prevalent allowing for harvesting of Manuka honey by external contractors.

Three small streams flow off or through the property containing long fin eel - Tuna, and small native fish - the Kokopu.  Koura, the small fresh water crayfish are also present.

Some fencing remains and will be extended by the new owners.

A farm track to the first top paddock was upgraded to a metalled road in 2010 giving 4WD access to the property all year round.

Significant pest control has been undertaken since 2012 using rat, stoat and possum traps, and poisoning using rat/mouse bait stations.  Day/night shooting and trapping have been under taken to remove goats, possums and pigs.

Wilding pines cover the property and 350+ have been removed to date, some felled for firewood and mulch which has been sold for funding further pest control efforts.
